I’ve been a writer all my life. I was a writer even before I could read. When I was only five years old, I heard about the world record for the youngest person ever to write a published book. She was four years old, and I was five, already too old to beat her record, but I thought I could come close, and I started writing. It took me many years to understand the difference between a God-given desire to write and the ability to write. I was no prodigy! Learning my craft has taken years–decades! I spent a long college career chasing my dream, and then more years teaching others in the college classroom.
